We focus on FDA-approved GLP-1 care pathways.
How do I choose a GLP-1 telehealth provider?
This sits at the provider-selection step before a telehealth evaluation or prescription decision.
There is no single best telehealth provider for everyone. Compare how each service handles the initial evaluation, follow-up visits, prescription decisions, and questions after the visit.
Before signing up, ask:
- Who will conduct the visit, and is the clinician licensed or otherwise authorized to provide care where you are located? Telehealth.HHS.gov explains that cross-state licensing rules vary.
- What will the visit cost, and is it billed separately from the medication or other services? HHS recommends asking about telehealth costs before the visit.
- How will follow-up questions, records, and future appointments be handled? HHS describes follow-up communication and access to information after a telehealth visit.
- Which pharmacy options are available if a prescription is issued, and what insurance information do you need to provide?
A legitimate care pathway should not promise that you will receive a prescription before an evaluation. If medication is dispensed through an online pharmacy, FDA says the pharmacy should require a prescription, provide a U.S. address and phone number, and be licensed by a state board of pharmacy. Review FDA’s online-pharmacy safety guidance.
GLP-1 Navigator does not rank providers or recommend one service over another. Use the questions above to compare the process, total expected costs, availability in your state, and how the service communicates with you.
